Pant Prodigy

Hello darlings! One of the hardest things about summer fashion is keeping cool and keeping modest at the same time! This resulted in our patterned pants becoming some of our favorite pieces for those hot summer days. They are comfy, nice and thin for when it's too warm out, and so fun! Check out how we styled them!

{Autumn}
This was probably one of my most worn outfits all summer. This was my way of wearing a casual, comfy outfit and still feeling dressed up and cute. I am all for mixing patterns, but for some reason, I have a hard time finding something to wear with these pants. I stuck with a basic black and white polka dot tee so the patterns wouldn't get too crazy. (These pants are already crazy enough, right?) And to tone down the patterns but still add more to the entire outfit, I threw on my chiffon top. The pants have more of a turquoise color, like my shoes, but sometimes wearing a lighter shade, like my mint tank, can compliment the darker color perfectly! As for my shoes, I just bought them because they were $6 and I did so when I was wearing these pants and I was like, "Hey these look great together!"

{Kenzie}
These are my FAVORITE pants. Actually let's be real, this is probably one of my favorite pieces of clothing ever (besides my sequin sandals)! I seriously cannot express in words how amazing these are-they are soooo comfy, and cute!? AND you can dress them up for a night out or wear them as PJs! I guess all I have to say is go buy yourself a pair. For the sake of this post I kept the rest of my outfit pretty simple. I wore the black and white stripes which contrasts quite nicely with the pattern of my pants. And well of course, here are the sandals again...seriously another very versatile item!! I feel like I am wearing pajamas but I look dressed up-probably the best kind of fashion! So stick to your versatile items and go out feeling confident.

Wild Animals

 Finally posting again! Summer has been a lot more crazy then we thought it would be. Today we're showing off our wild side with our favorite animal print pieces. Sometimes animal print can look a bit trashy or outdated. But when styled right, you can have the perfect outfit. We hope you enjoy our cheetah and zebra styles!

 {Autumn}
The first time I wore my cheetah top with my yellow skirt, I knew I had to post about it. I just loved the yellow color with my black and white cheetah print top. It kind of reminded me of a safari or something. Plus, I love how flowy and fun the skirt is. I know it seems kind of funky to add a different cheetah pattern to this outfit, but something about it just worked. Who doesn't love a fun pair of shoes? My advice for mixing two animal patterns would be to keep one piece big and one piece small. I would never wear a cheetah shirt and different cheetah skirt! That would be a little too much. But Kenzie has an awesome example of mixing animal print with patterns. See what she has to say!

{Mackenzie}
This outfit is a little more bold than I usually do but I thought it was fitting for an animal print post. My zebra print tank top is almost my only animal print clothing item...but I like it because it doesn't scream animal print! Since it is a tank top I wore my white knit cardigan. I love this because it literally goes with everything, and dresses up my outfits a little more. My skirt is my go-to skirt because it goes with so much. My personal advice with animal print is pick a neutral color (black and white) with a bold color(orange), and run with it. I thought it was a fun pattern-on-pattern pair. And since I was already going bold, I wore my orange and black aztec sandals, yet another pattern! But just have fun.

Red White & Blue

Happy Fourth everyone! Another holiday is the perfect excuse for us to be festive, as well was show our American pride. Nothing is better than a simple outfit for a hot summer day. Here's how we stay cool (and modest) in our own festive ways.

{Autumn}
I love this tee. It is so simple and has a really cute design. I would wear it with practically anything any time of year. And nothing is better than wearing a tee shirt when it's so hot out. I don't like wearing shorts. They look cute on other people (like Kenz) but I feel like they make my knees look big so these are my only pair. But when it gets so hot out, I can't help but wear them. I love the blue and white pinstripes and they just happen to be perfectly patriotic to match my top (and the day). I needed to add a little extra something to my plain tee and short combo so I searched for any red accessories. I came across this red scarf my grandma gave me and I knew it would be perfect for my hair. To finish my outfit I added my favorite summer sandals as well as my heart glasses because… Eye Heart America!

{Kenzie}
These shorts: I almost got rid of them a few years ago but then got a crafty bug and added the polka dots! Now I am so glad I didn't get rid of them because they are so fun. I decided to wear these because they reminded me of the stars on an American flag. I wore my red heart glasses, for a fun spin on my outfit. I kept it simple with a plain white tee and my white sandals, summery & nice and cool. Fourth of July is such a fun holiday to dress up for, and pretty easy too! But I kept my simple because it's been so hot recently. Celebrate America's birthday with a festive outfit!

Chambray + Pink

Hello friends! Finally, school is all over! Hopefully our posts will be more consistent throughout summer. To kick things off, today we wanted to share with you how we styled one of our outfits for our senior pictures. No, we didn't plan to coordinate, but since we did match we thought we would share. Here's how we styled our chambray dresses with the color pink. Hope you enjoy!

 {Mackenzie}
Well I guess I copied Autumn's outfit(she did take her pictures first), but how could I resist, it was too cute! I am in love with denim dresses, I want one in every shade of chambray! Chambray dresses are very versatile, but I think a pop of color makes it unique. Since this one is a tank top (and open back) I paired it with my pink polka-dot cardigan. A few valentine's days ago I wanted a more festive outfit so I added heart patches to the elbows, but it's still fun to wear on other occasions. I wanted a "country girl" look so I wore a rustic {bike} necklace and my brown boots! Today's fashion advice: BE YOURSELF!

{Autumn}
Kenzie is so lying, she totally didn't copy me! I made her help me pick out my outfits the night before my pictures. In fact, I stole this dress from her! I do have a denim dress of my own, but I find Kenz's much more flattering and it looked way cuter with the setting. I wanted to include all the different aspects of my style into this outfit and when I threw all these pieces together, it was just perfect for me! I began planning this outfit with the denim dress. Like I said, I knew I was going to be taking my photos in a grassy field and I thought this dress would go with it rather well. With that, I began putting my favorite things together that I wore every day. What's the point in senior pictures if they don't reflect you from your senior year? My black polka dot cardi is one of my favorite items that I wear with almost everything. How could I not include that? (Plus I needed some pattern.) Next on my list was color. What would be better than color pop tights?! I stuck with a light shade of pink so everything would match the setting, but the tights still brought a nice little touch of color. Since I absolutely love everything vintage, I knew the perfect shoes would be my Aunt Cari's docs that I adore. To top off the whole sha-bang, I made a flower crown. I easily glued some fake flowers on a wire and that was it! I think Kenzie got it right: be yourself!

P R O M

We are almost graduated! For one of our final posts during our high school lives, we thought it would be appropriate to share our prom outfits! Both of us attended our school prom and mormon prom. We wore our same dresses but we styled everything else a little bit differently. We're so excited to finally be able to share them with you!

{Autumn}
I guess I'll start with my dress. I saw this dress on pinterest over a year ago and I thought, Wow that is my dream prom dress! But I never expected to actually find it, let alone find it in my price range. I came across this dress on one of those sketchy chinese websites and for a very reasonable price! My sister and I now have ordered several dresses from China and luckily they always worked. Don't be afraid to order from these websites but my advice would be to make sure you get your measurements and custom order where possible!
For my first prom look I wanted to be a little bit fancier. I wanted my hair up but I didn't like the idea of putting it back. I loved this hair do because it put all my air in front and on top of my head. Don't be afraid of trying something different, even if a lot of people are telling you it won't look good. Another thing I wasn't so sure about was my corsage. Some people were telling me it wouldn't work out but a good friend told me, "It's your senior prom and they're your favorite flowers. Just do it!" We got creative and used the bouquet of sunflowers he gave me earlier that week to make our corsages. I think I got as many compliments on my flowers as I did my dress!
In fact, I loved the sunflower-dress combo so much that I wanted the same for mormon prom. But I didn't want to make another corsage. I literally stuck some flowers on a headband and I left my hair in messy curls. I finished both of my outfits with blue heels and my favorite red lipstick.

{Mackenzie}
I styled my dress pretty similarly for both proms, but there are slight differences. I've been dreaming of a pretty prom pretty much my whole life, but didn't want to spend a bunch of money! To be honest I just typed in "Cheap Prom Dresses" into google and I searched and searched and searched and then came across the glorious ifitdress.com - the cheapest site I could find. I came across this dress and fell in love, because it was modest, quite simple but also unique. I originally wanted a white prom dress but quickly converted to the green, because of the uniqueness.
Regular prom: I ended up just curling my hair and leaving it down (due to time). And honestly-BEST DECISION EVER! I was able to whip my hair, my favorite dance move, and I had no issues with it falling out! I kept my make-up simple and neutral. I wore lots of gold jewelry-a chain bracelet, stud earrings, and lots of rings. And my favorite part of the whole outfit-my shoes! Although I don't have a good picture, they are stripy wedges-another AWESOME decision. Seriously the most comfortable things I have ever owned, I didn't even take them off to dance!
Mormon Prom: I kept everything more simple-less jewelry, and  I broke my favorite shoes so I opted for my sparkly sandals- simple, comfortable, but still classy. I decided to do a super simple up-do this time. I really like the way up-dos look on my face shape, but not the best for dancing! And to top the look off I wore bright pink lipstick!

Top Notch Tees

Finally, a new post! Sorry we've been lame but we haven't had too much time lately to take pictures. But more posts will be coming soon! Anyway, we had "Senior Declare Day" at our school and we thought this would be a fun time to share our college shirts and talk a little bit about how we like to dress up our t-shirts. Enjoy!

 {Autumn}
To be honest, this outfit was very last minute and miss matched but I ended up really liking how it turned out. The night before when I was planning my outfit, I decided I wanted to wear my mint green pants a cardigan. I wasn't sure what top to wear with it but then I remembered it was going to be college shirt day and, boom! That was it. If you're wearing a t-shirt, that doesn't mean you have to be wearing jeans and tennis shoes with it. I actually think it's the exact opposite. Tees can be a ton fun to dress up with just about anything. T-shirts aren't my favorite thing ever but when I do wear them, I match them with my favorite pieces, adding new colors and patterns.

 {Mackenzie}
I was super excited to finally declare where I was going and wear my new T-shirt for college shirt day. I'm usually not a fan of T-shirts but when it's rep-ing my new favorite place I was all over it. I wore my polka-dot pants, adding a little statement to the outfit. The night before I was like "Dang it, I don't have anything cute to wear with my college shirt!" So I last minute made this super easy DIY headband. I liked the extra pop of red it added. I completed my outfit with my favorite go-to sandals, chic but simple! I think key to making a T-shirt "fashionable" is having the rest of your outfit very put together but not over done. So don't be afraid to show your school pride with a t-shirt, just do it with fashion and confidence!

Easter Pastels

Happy Spring Darlings!

With Easter just around the corner we thought it would be more than appropriate to discuss pastels. And of course a favorite Easter tradition:the Easter bunny, so we borrowed the Martinez' bunny, S'mores, to add a little more Easter festivity!

 {Autumn}
I love pastels and while picking out my outfit, it was brought to my attention that I do not have enough and I should really get more! These are pretty much the only pastels I own so I threw them all together and I really liked how they turn out. My green shirt and off-white dress are very simple so I'm always looking for different ways to wear them. I had never thought about putting them together! And for one more color, I added light pink tights. Even though it isn't too cold anymore, I still love wearing my colored tights and these are the perfect spring color. This spring, try color blocking pastels. Different solid color pastels will almost always look great together. To give my outfit a little contrast, I wore my dark brown heeled oxfords.

{Mackenzie}
One of my favorite things about spring is spring fashion! I love pastels and I love how you can wear multiple pastel pieces in one outfit to make a perfect spring outfit. I second Autumn on encouraging you to color block different pastels. I think this skirt has spring written all over it. The peplum shirt flows nicely with the pencil cut skirt and adds a very feminine figure. I wanted the focus to be completely on the pastels, so I kept the rest of the outfit pretty simple. Pastels add brightness; so be confident, be proud, and shine in your pretty pastels.

Dressy Diaries

 Hey darlings! Today we want to share with you our favorite way to wear dressy yet casual outfits. These outfits are perfect for a night out or maybe just a day that you want to dress a little bit nicer. Enjoy!

{Autumn}
This is my absolute favorite dress. I love that it goes with practically anything but it isn't a solid color. It still looks good when I mix it with any color or pattern. I wore it with my turquoise striped sweater to add a fun pattern and a bright color. The pictures don't show it but my gray tights are ribbed which add another texture to my outfit. I love this outfit because I feel like it's the perfect mix of colors, patterns, and textures. I could wear this same outfit with a different shirt underneath, different colored tights, or maybe both! Of course, I added my favorite combats to complete this look. But for a more dressy look, I would wear a pair of heels. Maybe even pink ones to throw in a new color!

{Kenzie}
My outfit is based off a "tea party" inspired look. This skirt it perfect for many different styles. The pleats are fun to work with. I choose to wear it with a peplum shirt this time. The stripes plus the peplum add a very flattering look. To stay on a more causal side, I wore simple jewelry and my booties, but if you wanted to dress the outfit up you could easily wear heels. And last, but certainly not least…my hat! I found it at the end of a long, unsuccessful shopping day, and literally the whole world got better when I saw it. I love this thing. It adds a modern, sophisticated look to so many outfits, (covers up a bad hair day), and completes the whole "tea party" style.

Saint Patrick's Day

 Happy Saint Patrick's Day! We love being festive and as soon as we saw these shamrock tights we knew that we had to post about them. It was a perfect, sunny day and we grabbed our friend Leah to shoot a few pictures for us at school. This was the perfect way for us to kick off the beginning of our spring posts.

{Mackenzie}
I love dressing up for holidays and I love tights so when Autumn suggested we do both for "Leprechaun Day" I was all over the idea. This is my go-to skirt for tights because it is the perfect length. I added the belt for a little more color and to define my waist line. I think belts are so fun to add a little POP to any outfit. I kept the rest of the outfit pretty neutral to keep the focus on the green. And the fedora added a perfect spring touch.

{Autumn}
First off, I have to give mad props to my sweet aunt Cari for practically this whole outfit. My skirt, sweater and shoes all belong to her. My new favorite thing is polka dots on polka dots. I love them! My outfit may seem a little crazy with the three different patterns but when being festive for a holiday, it's okay to be a little funky. Sometimes I get sick of doing my hair and I put it up. Usually I put it in one bun but I thought two matched the theme of my outfit. For any holiday, I suggest going to any store and picking out one festive item (usually tights or socks) and then plan your usual stylish outfit around that item. It will be perfect!
