Pretty Patterns

Hello pretty people! Today we want to share some of our favorite patterned pieces and how to make them work together. Mixing patterns hasn't always been popular and sometimes it can go wrong. Here are some of our tricks to making sure your mixed patterns always look spectacular!

{Autumn} When I mix patterns, I almost always try to keep the colors similar and the patterns very different. Stripes and florals are one of my favorite combinations. The floral pattern is big and the colored stripes are small. It may not have worked this well if the stripes were too big. Opposites in pattern shape are good! To tone the outfit down a little bit, I added my suede vest and similar color boots. Adding bright colors to the already mixed patterns would probably be a bit too much. My brown combats are my favorite shoes. I wear them almost every day and they go with pretty much anything. They are simple and perfect to add to any mixed pattern outfit!

{Mackenzie} My outfit consists of my favorite pieces from my closet! And fortunately they all go together very well. My shrug is so fun to wear-it can be worn in so many different ways. It can easily be dressed up or down. Here I wore my favorite tank with it-which also has a pattern/texture to it. I think putting these two together makes a good contrast. When pairing patterns I try to keep them contradicting enough so they don't clash but simple enough so it's not overwhelming. Matching a neutral color with the bright pattern helps in order to not go over board.  I paired my pattern combination with my low brown boots and jeans to make a chic casual look. These are my go-to-jeans and boots, which also can be dressed  up or down. I think this outfit is great because it is very casual but still classy.

Color Pop

Hello lovelies! We want to share with you some of our favorite outfits that are more on the dressy side. For these outfits, we stuck with simple, neutral colors (specifically white) and used one of the best ways to add a color pop-- colored tights!

{Autumn} When wearing a solid color, like my white sweater, I prefer to mix textures and patterns. It may not be noticeable, but there is a knitted texture in my sweater. I put it with my black and white striped skirt and that gives me the perfect outfit to add any sort of color pop to. My favorite absolute favorite color is orange and I like to wear it as much as I can. I added my orange tights and a matching, colorful statement necklace for a small but bright touch. To dress up the outfit a little bit more, I wore my gray heeled booties. But if I wanted a more casual look, I would have worn my black combat boots and that would have been a perfect outfit for school!

{Mackenzie} When I saw this dress I instantly fell in love and knew it would be a perfect fit for my wardrobe. Although my Mom and Aunt say it reminds them something my grandma would have wore in her day, I am still in love. I think that's what I love most about it-it's just the perfect amount of vintage. Autumn got me hooked on colored tights and I believe they go just right to add some "pop" to any outfit; and they go well with the length of the dress. I wear these two pieces of jewelry quite often, they can be both dressed up and down. I think the gold adds a nice accent to the look.
